An interactive computerized training program designed for home use. Just as physical therapy may help rebuild muscles and adjust movements to compensate for physical weakness or injury, LACE can assist in developing listening and communication skills and strategies that can help compensate for those situations when hearing is inadequate.
We may "hear" with our ears but we actually "listen" with our brain. Hearing aids can help a person detect sounds but they do not necessarily mean improved listening skills. Even people with normal hearing can be poor listeners.
Good listening skills are one of the components essential for effective communication. Other components of listening include
In addition, gaining self confidence in your hearing skills again is vital. All these skills can be damaged both by hearing loss and by the natural aging process. LACE® is designed to enhance one's ability to communicate by maximizing listening skills and communication strategies. It was designed with Hard of Hearing persons in mind.

Why would you need a coach??
It has been found that people will likely remain with the LACE® program when hearing health professionals provide support throughout the training. I personally believe people need support through LACE® training. I certainly did! I was frustrated when I did not see any progress made. My own coach supported and motivated me to complete the training as she could see improvement. It never did get easy for me so I was daily challenged but it did pay off. You get feedback from the program as it is interactive; however, you get more information from your coach and suggestions as you progress.
As your coach, I review the results of each day of the 20 sessions and give you a daily encouragement and a progress report at 3 different stages. I want you to think about how you learn things. If you know that having support and encouragement is helpful to you, then perhaps you need a coach for your LACE® training.
LACE® provides a variety of interactive and adaptive tasks that will help train you to listen and communicate more effectively. As you improve, the training intensifies. That means it getS harder! After a few sessions, you will find yourself conquering difficult listening situations you never imagined possible.
